Presentation at the Tellico Village Vette Club

I was fortunate , due to the hard work of Anne and Jay Gilmer to receive an invitation to speak at the Tellico “Vette” club meeting this past Wednesday evening. These folks are Corvette enthusiasts and they have a very active club with well over 60 members, most of whom were present. I was warmly received and was able to explain the history of the Safe Haven Light home and the vision we have for the future. The main purpose of the visit was to encourage them to participate in our upcoming fund raiser event by touring Watts Bar Lake and participating in the Lake Fest and Poker Run. I was encouraged that many of the members seemed interested and I am hopeful they will join us for a great day on the lake!

Status Update

Well as usual, I am behind in getting information out on this web site. But the activity level has been ongoing and so let me just take a few minutes to bring all of you up to date.

The house itself is in the final stages of being completed so we can apply for a Certificate of Occupancy. Once we made all of the modifications and cleaned everything up we found some additional issues, not unusual for a project like this. The last items we are finishing include one of the bathroom tub/shower combinations being replaced and retrofitted to a shower stall and the re-painting of the interior now that we have everything cleaned up. The goal is to have that completed by the 10th of June and then work up the documents for the CO.

On the fund raising front, we have scheduled the Poker Run for July 9th and we are working hard on getting that completed. If you would like to participate please call me at 423-365-2577 and we can get you registered.

I will be posting some updated pictures shortly as well as a short video tour of the house so check back for that!
